What is the Telangana Aasara Pension Scheme?
The Telangana Aasara pension program was first established on November 8, 2014, by the Chief Minister of Telangana to provide pensions to all citizens, including widows, and HIV patients, so that they may care for their families and lead happy lives. The Telangana Aasara Scheme was renewed in 2020, with the pension amount increased to guarantee that all recipients benefit from the TS Aasara pension plan. The Telangana government provides the Aasara pension Telangana to citizens above the age of 65. In 2018, Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao, had announced during the election campaign the plan to extend the scheme’s benefits to individuals of ages 57 to 65. Beneficiaries who meet the requirements can submit an application to Meeseva centres in the authorised format.
TS Aasara Pension: Eligibility criteria
For old age
- The minimum age is 65 years old.
- The applicant must be a member of a primitive or vulnerable tribe.
- People who work in the informal sector, such as porters, fruit/flower sellers, snake charmers, rag pickers, coolies, rickshaw pullers, hand cart pullers, and cobblers, are eligible regardless of whether they live in rural or urban regions.
- Homeless individuals or individuals living in improvised shelters or huts.
For widows
- The minimum age should be 18 years.
- The widow must be from a Primitive and Vulnerable Tribal Group.
For weavers
- The weaver must be older than 50 years.
- The candidate must be a member of a primitive or vulnerable tribal group.
For toddy tappers
- The toddy tapper must be older than 50 years.
- The candidate must be a member of a primitive or vulnerable tribal group.
- Verification of the beneficiary’s membership in the Co-Operative Society of Toddy Tappers.
For disabled individuals
- To avail of this scheme, the person can be of any age.
- The person must belong to a primitive and vulnerable tribe.
TS Aasara Pension: Socio-economic eligibility criteria
Families satisfying the following socio-economic characteristics would be eligible for the pension:
- Primitive tribal groups
- Households led by women with no earning members
- Homeless families or households living in makeshift structures or huts, often in metropolitan locations
- People who make a living in the informal sector
- Artisans and craftsmen living in rural areas
- Landless agricultural labourers.
People meeting one or more of the following criteria are not eligible for this pension scheme:
- Automobile owners, whether light or heavy (four-wheeler and big vehicles).
- Those receiving a pension from another government program.
- Individuals having a vast commercial enterprise.
- Individuals with successful children.
- Having more than 3 acres of wet/irrigated dry land or more than 7.5 acres of dry land.
- Any other criterion that the verification officer may use to determine if the family is ineligible based on its lifestyle, career, or profession.
TS Aasara Pension: Procedure to check eligibility
- The application would be accepted by the gram panchayat secretary/village revenue official in rural regions and the bill collector in urban areas. They are responsible for checking and validating the applications.
- The scrutinising procedure will be carried out by the designated Mandal Parishad Development Officer/ municipal commissioner/ deputy/ zonal commissioner, who will provide pensions in accordance with the guidelines.
- For each Panchayat Mandal and municipality, data from household surveys, census population statistics, and percentages for old age widows and disabled will be evaluated, as well as ensuring parity across other socio-economic groups such as scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, and backward class.
- If a person gives false information to get a pension, they will face disciplinary action, and their pension will be cancelled.
TS Aasara Pension: Documents needed

How to submit an application under TS Aasara?
You can submit an application for free since the government reimburses it to the Meeseva facility. District collectors and GHMC workers would be collecting the applications at Meeseva centres.
To submit an application, a birth certificate or mark sheet from class 10th must be included in the application. Apart from that, a government-issued graduation certificate and a Voter ID card should also be attached to the application.
TS Aasara Pension: Administration
- Putting this program online will be the duty of the SERP, the CEO, and all-district collectors.
- Change requests can be accepted after receiving approval from the necessary authorities.
- After receiving a documented modification request from the authorised officer, the software vendor is entitled to make modifications.
- The report on the management information system will be posted on the official website, which will be accessible to the general public.
- Administrative expenses of no more than 3% of total expenditures are authorised for the fulfilment of TS Aasara pensions.

TS Aasara Pension: Sanction of pension amount and issue of pension card
- Examine the proposal report and make a comparison to the SKS survey findings.
- Choose the lowest of the poor from a verified list that includes people from all walks of life.
- Every effort will be taken to guarantee that no one who is qualified is left out.
- After that, the data will be entered into the Aasara application.
- The information will also be forwarded to the district collector.
- The pension cards will be handed out to the proper recipients, who will be photographed, after gaining final approval from the district collector.
- Existing pensioners and those who are qualified but have not been considered for the pension must be recorded in the gram panchayat’s registers A and B.
TS Aasara Pension: Aadhaar seeding
Payments will be made using biometrics if the following requirements are met:
- Beneficiaries will be given an Aadhar number, which will be seeded immediately to allow for biometric identification and the most efficient payment utilising the Aadhaar-enabled payment system.
- If an Aadhar number is not available, they will get one with the help of the local government.
- Payment will be made using either the best fingerprint detection or inaccurate IRIS authentication.
- When patients are unable to move or have significant injuries to their upper extremities, the gram panchayat secretary or bill collector will issue the pension using his biometrics.
TS Aasara Pension: Disbursal
The MPDOs / tahsildar will download the acquittances from the login provided to them and take a printout to hand it over to the disbursing agencies.
- The scheme will establish centralised acquittances and processes at the state level.
- It will be made available on the internet for the district collector to review and approve the processes via the project director.
- The project director will get district collector approval for the physical file before submitting it to the Aasara software.
- SERP will then generate a money transfer report.
- The MPDOs / tahsildars will download the acquittances and print them out to deliver to the disbursing agencies using the login provided to them.
- The pension will thereafter be disbursed at the Gram Panchayat or disbursing point level by the customer service provider.
- The MPDO/Tehsildars will then get the signed acquittances.
- Any changes in pensioners’ status must be reported to the customer service provider, branch postmaster, gram panchayat, and secretary once a month.
- The pension must be deposited into a bank account owned by the pensioner. The pension amount will be confined to the recipients’ bank accounts, which they can withdraw using their ATM cards if an ATM is available in the municipality.
- The pension will be placed in the local bank for the post office and disbursed by biometric verification in distant places where there is a bank.
- Each retiree’s biometric device should have been registered.
- Pension payments should be made in a public place as soon as possible.
- The pension must be put into the pensioner’s bank account. If an ATM is provided in the municipality, the pension amount will be restricted to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, from which they can withdraw using their ATM cards.
- The pension will be held in a local bank for the post office and distributed via biometric verification in far-flung locations where a bank exists.
- The biometric device of each retiree should have been registered.
- Pension payments should be made as soon as feasible in a public area.
