Their mothers were firm friends, going back to the plantation where they first met. When Jordan’s mother dies, Sadie and her mother travel to Chicago. The journey back together is likely.

Thrall – Roan Parrish and Avon Gale

Gale and Parrish are prolific authors. Many of their solo works are available on Kindle Unlimited. Thrall’s queer, modern retelling of Dracula is my favorite.

Mina and Lucy have a successful podcast about true crime that they run out of New Orleans. Lucy’s brother Harker vanishes while she is researching Thrall, a new dating app. The two discover that they have a criminal problem to solve. They must race against the clock to save Harker with the help of Professor Van Helsing and Arthur, their social media expert. Although I’m not a big fan of Dracula, I do love this one. It is so much fun.

Paper Girls – Alex Smith

As I said, the best Kindle Unlimited books have a lot more series than Netflix. Crime is a vital genre, so I had to choose a series to recommend. Alex Smith’s DCI Kitt series, Paper Girls being the first, is a beautiful example.

DCI Kett, a London-based detective, has moved to Norwich with his children to make a fresh start. Kett is dragged into a twisted serial kidnapping case. It could have serious personal consequences. Smith is an accomplished writer whose novels fly by. Before you know it, you will have read the entire series.

Bricking It – Nick Spalding

Bricking It is a funny story by Nick Spalding. It is challenging to create humor well, but Spalding does a great job, especially if you enjoy snappy dialogue.

Bricking is the story of siblings Dan and Hayley, who inherit a wrecked house their grandmother left them. It was a house nobody knew she owned. It’s crumbling, but Dan and Hayley plan to renovate it and then sell it off. It sounds simple. The house is unstable at the edges, and the cow is following them everywhere.

The house will be featured on a TV renovation show, and the presenter is determined to win Hayley. It might not be as easy as they expect.

The Vine Witch – Luanne G Smith
