About the Directorate of Land Records and Survey, Nagaland

The Directorate of Land Records and Survey was set up in 1973, with its headquarter (HQ) at Kohima. The HQ was shifted to Dimapur in August 1975. Land in the state belongs to the people and is administered through the traditional systems and customary laws of each tribe. Initially, the department’s activities were limited to areas in and around Dimapur Mouza, the town administrative headquarter, and government-acquired lands. With awareness, a survey has begun on all administrative headquarters and government lands, and all district offices are headed by the land records & survey officers along with field staff.
