How to download your e-Aadhaar Card?
Using your Aadhaar 12-digit number
If you have your Aadhaar Card and number with you, you can easily get your e-Aadhaar by following these steps:
Go to the UIDAI website. Click on ‘Download Aadhaar’ under the ‘My Aadhaar’ option.
- On the next page, enter your 12-digit UID (1234/5678/1278).
- Enter the given captcha.
- After that, choose either ‘Send OTP’ option.
- Now, fill in the OTP that was sent to your registered number.
- Choose the ‘Verify and Download’ option.
After the verification is done, you will get the password-protected PDF of your e-Aadhaar card in your Downloads folder.

If you want to access your e-Aadhaar card, enter the first four letters of your name and the year of birth. (For instance, AMAN2004)
Using the enrolment ID
You can also use your enrolment ID to download an electronic copy of your Aadhaar Card:
- Go to the official UIDAI website.
- Select ‘Download Aadhaar’ from the ‘My Aadhaar’ drop-down.
- Pick the Enrolment ID option.
- Fill in your Enrolment ID number and the given captcha.
- Select ‘Send OTP.’
- Choose the ‘Verify and Download’ option to download your e-Aadhaar.
The steps to open your password-protected download are the same as mentioned above.
Using the virtual ID
You can download your e-Aadhaar using your virtual ID (VID) number too. The process is:
- Go to the official UIDAI website.
- Select ‘Download Aadhaar’ from the ‘My Aadhaar’ drop-down.
- Enter your 16-digit VID number and the given captcha.
- Select ‘Send OTP’.
- Enter the OTP that was sent to your registered number to download your e-Aadhaar.
Using your name and date of birth
If you have misplaced or do not remember your Enrolment ID, you can retrieve it using details like your name, phone number, email address and DOB (date of birth).
After you retrieve the Enrolment ID, you can follow the steps listed above to download your e-Aadhaar. Here’s how you can retrieve your Enrolment ID:
- Go to the UIDAI website.
- Select Retrieve Lost or Forgotten EID/UID option from the My Aadhaar drop-down menu.
- On the next page, select the ‘Enrolment ID ’ tab.

Using mAadhaar mobile app
You can also use the mAadhaar app (the official Aadhaar mobile application) to download your e-Aadhaar.
Download the app from the Appstore/Google Play Store. Then follow these steps to download your e-Aadhaar:
- Open the mAadhaar app on your mobile, and login.
- If you had added your mobile number to your Aadhaar Card during enrolment, you can directly download your e-Aadhaar card.
- An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
Using DigiLocker application
DigiLocker is another Indian government mobile application you can use to download your e-Aadhaar card.
To download your e-Aadhaar card on DigiLocker, follow the steps listed below:
- Download the application from the Appstore/Google Play Store, and log in.
- Select UIDAI as your partner and Aadhaar as the document.
- Now, enter your Aadhaar number. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
- After verification, your e-Aadhaar card will be downloaded.
- Go to the Issued section of the app to view your e-Aadhaar card.
Using UMANG
UMANG app will let you access e-Governance services from all government agencies across India.
Follow the steps below to download your e-Aadhaar card using the UMANG app:
- Download the app from the Appstore/Google Play Store.
- Register yourself on the app to use its services.
- Go to ‘All Services’ and choose ‘Aadhaar Card’.
- Select ‘View Aadhaar Card from DigiLocker’.
- You will then be redirected to the DigiLocker home page.
