Aadhaar cards have become mandatory for everyone around the country. It has become essential to avail of various benefits and even as an identity or address proof. Many people have concerns pertaining to their Aadhaar cards. Such people can raise queries depending on the mode that they prefer. Grievance redressal

The UIDAI authorities have set up various call centers and redressal centers for people who wish to get their queries clarified and their doubts cleared. On acknowledgement of your complaint, a slip is provided with your enrollment number. You will need the same when you approach the center for updates about your complaints. 

Online redressal

A concern can be raised via UIDAI public grievance portal https://pgportal.gov.in/. You need to be a registered user to lodge a complaint using this portal. 

The process is as follows:

  • Visit the official website.
  • The home page opens up.
  • Enter your password and security code. 
  • Click on login.

If you are a new user, fill up the registration form and register yourself on the portal for more information.

Once you have registered yourself, lodge a complaint using the following method:

  • Click on the grievance tab.
  • Click on Lodge Public Grievance.

Redressal process

Once you are registered, and your complaint has been sent, the following process is followed to address your complaint:

  • The issue is checked preliminarily and sent to the respective regional office or concerned section at the headquarter. 
  • The concerned authorities respond to the grievance online.
  • The respective person who had registered the complaint can then take the appropriate steps to clear the same.

Postal complaint

In case an applicant does not have access to internet services, they can send the complaint via postal services and get a reply. The process followed is almost the same as an online complaint, but the time required in order to get a reply is longer.

  • In order to get details about the nearest Aadhaar center, you can ask the chatbot online. 
  • You can also download the Aadhaar letter online once your request has been approved.
  • The Aadhaar number does not change following an update. 
  • Original documents will need to be carried when you visit an enrollment center. 
  • A nominal fee will also be charged for those who wish to get updates made to their Aadhaar card.

However complicated the process might seem, it actually requires less time and effort once initiated.
