Haryana receives 9 lakh applications for PMAY houses

[ecis2016.org] Nearly 9 lakh people from Haryana have applied online for houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), union minister Venkaiah Naidu said

Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation minister, M Venkaiah Naidu, on April 28, 2017, revealed that so far, a total online demand of 8.97 lakh houses had been received under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), from Haryana alone.

Naidu said he has requested the state government to complete the demand survey by the end of July 2017 and submit the ‘Housing for All‘ plan of action by August 2018.

Naidu said that the state government had also signed a MoU, for the construction of houses in towns. He said that prime minister Narendra Modi had announced that beneficiaries of the scheme, would be provided interest subvention at the rate of 6.5 per cent for a loan amount of up to Rs six lakhs, 4 per cent for a loan amount of Rs 12 lakhs and 3 per cent for Rs 18 lakhs.

Naidu also said that the centre would provide technical support to Haryana, for developing Gurugram as a ‘Smart City’, with the funding being made by the state government. He said that the Smart City proposal for Karnal would also be evaluated. Naidu added that Faridabad had created a Special Purpose Vehicle for the implementation of the Smart City Mission. He handed over the second tranche of Rs 96 crores to the state government. The first tranche of Rs 92 crores, was released on January 4, 2017.
