Major projects by the PMRDA
Pune Metro
The Pune Metro Line 3 between Hinjewadi and Shivajinagar will be implemented by the PMRDA, on a public-private-partnership basis. The foundation stone for this route was laid in December 2018. While the construction is underway, it may take up to three years for this line to become completely operational. There are plans to extend this line till Hadapsar but the plan is yet to be finalised.
Pune Ring Road
Planned to link 29 villages around Pune, the ring road will connect all major highways with each other, which includes the Pune-Nashik, Mumbai-Pune-Solapur, Pune-Ahmednagar and Pune-Satara highways. This will be a 128-km-long ring road, to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 104 billion. While only 24% of the land has been acquired so far, the Authority is waiting for the centre’s assistance, to fast-track the acquisition process.
