Arunachal Pradesh RERA
According to data available with India’s Housing Ministry, Arunachal Pradesh has notified the general rules of the RERA and has set up an interim Real Estate Regulatory Authority as prescribed under the Act but it is yet to set up a RERA portal. Even though the Arunachal Pradesh RERA is effective on paper in the hill state, the state has also not appointed an adjudicating officer under the RERA. As a result of this, no housing projects are registered under the Arunachal Pradesh RERA. The same holds true of real estate brokers of the state.

Known as the ‘land of the rising sun’, Arunachal Pradesh is unique in many ways. Arunachal Pradesh area is the largest among the north-eastern states and is spread across 84,000 sq km. It also shares its border with China, Myanmar and Bhutan. Home to picturesque yet difficult terrain, Arunachal Pradesh also has complicated land ownership laws. Land in the state, for instance, was held under customary laws of the many tribes living in the north-east till 2018. All these factors make the launch of housing projects in this north-eastern state extremely difficult and thus, the implementation of RERA.
