Nashik: Physical infrastructure and liveability

Nashik district, located in the north-west region of Maharashtra, is spread over an area of 15.582 sq kms. This district is surrounded by the Western Ghats and is also the origin point of the Godavari river. Nashik is the fourth city from Maharashtra to be ranked among the 20 most liveable cities in India, according to a 2014 Rediff report. It is also an important node in the ambitious Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project.

More than a million people, reside within the boundaries of Nashik district. The Nashik township includes Nashik city, Nashik Road-Deolali, Deolali Cantonment and Bhagur, spread over a radius of 17 kms from Nashik city.

Connectivity: Nashik city is well-connected to the other hubs in Maharashtra. It is at a distance of 200 kms, from both, Pune and Mumbai. To reach Nashik from Mumbai, one has to take the Mumbai-Agra NH-3, and to reach the city from Pune, the NH-50, covering a distance of 210 kms. Nashik has a new central bus stand, offering services to Aurangabad and Pune and also a railway station.

Schools: There are over 150 schools in the city, affiliated to the CBSE board, ICSE board and Maharashtra State Board. The city is home to a few international schools, as well. Some of the reputed schools in Nashik are Orchid International School, Barnes School and Junior College, Ryan International School, Eklavya Residential School, JV Patil International School, Kendriya Vidyalaya No 2, etc.

Colleges: Nashik has commerce, BBA, engineering, MBA and other degree courses offered by different colleges. Some of the recognised names are BYK (SINNAR) College of Commerce, HAL College of Science & Commerce, Agrawal Institute of Management & Technology, Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management, KK Wagh Institute Of Engineering Education and Research, and KK Wagh Education Society.

Hospitals: Government, private and super speciality hospitals are present in Nashik, including Apollo Hospitals, Wockhardt, Life Care Hospital, Civil Hospital, Cantonment General Hospital, Siddhivinayak Critical Care and Multi-speciality Hospital, etc.

Business and industry: The city is a base for heavy industries like auto, engineering and electrical. The expanding IT base, also provides ample employment opportunities.

Factors like good connectivity, an efficient road transport system, abundant water supply and good sanitation, have led to an impetus in demand for real estate. The city also enjoys a pleasant climate through the year. National highways passing through the city, have also seen more development. Pathardi, Adgaon, Nashik Road and Deolali Camp, have witnessed the fastest real estate development in Nashik.
