Three multi-storey parking lots, costing Rs 141.23 crores, will come up in Sector 1, 2 and 3 of Noida, which are grappling with traffic congestion due to roadside parking of vehicles, a senior Noida Authority official said, on May 17, 2019.

The parking in Sector 1, built at an estimated cost of Rs 47.26 crores, will have space for 534 cars in an area of 17,160 sq metres and is scheduled to get completed by the end of December 2019, Noida Authority’s general manager, Rajeev Tyagi said.
“Work is also underway on a Rs 61.82-crore parking in Sector 2, which will have space for 565 cars in an area of 18,273 sq metres,” he said, adding that the project is expected to be completed by October-end. The officer said the third parking will come up in Sector 3. “It will have space for 262 cars in an area of 11,370 sq metres. It is being built at an estimated cost of Rs 32.15 crores and work on it will be completed by June-end,” Tyagi said.

Altogether there will be space for parking 1,361 cars in these underground parking lots by 2019-end, he added.

October 8, 2018: Work is underway on five parking spaces in Noida, in sectors 3, 5, 1, 38A and 16A Film City, at an estimated cost of Rs 810.79 crores. These parking spaces, which are likely to be completed by March 31, 2019, will offer space for 10,000 cars, according to an official document. Four of these would be underground, including the one in Sector 16A, while one is multi-level, it stated.
“The biggest of them, in Sector 38A, is a multi-level parking that will be able to accommodate as many as 7,000 vehicles, while the others will be underground, including the one in Sector 16A with a capacity of 1,400 vehicles,” according to the Noida Authority document on parking projects under construction.
The parking in Sector 38A will cost Rs 573.15 crores (Rs 523.01 crores for civil works and Rs 50.14 crores for electrical works) while the one in Film City will cost Rs 110.59 crores (Rs 101.85 crores for civil works and Rs 8.74 crores for electrical works), it said.
The parking in Sector 3 will have space for 566 vehicles, the one in Sector 5 will accommodate 262 vehicles and the parking space in Sector 1 will have space for 534 vehicles and they will cost Rs 50.07 crores, Rs 29.72 crores and Rs 47.26 crores, respectively, according to the document.

Recently, a massive protest was carried out by several organisations, including residents’ welfare associations and trade bodies, over parking issues in the city.
During a visit on September 27, 2018, Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Satish Mahana had told a press conference that the new parking spaces will be completed by March-end.
“There would be space to park 10,000 vehicles in these parkings,” industrial development minister Mahana had said.
Asked about the projects, Noida Authority general manager Rajeev Tyagi said, once these parking spaces become functional, the scenario would change completely, especially around the busy Botanical Garden Metro Station and near the commercial hub of Sector 18. “How many cities can boast of having these many dedicated parking spaces?” he asked, adding, “Just imagine a space to park 1,400 cars in Film City. The scenario there would be poles apart, from what it is today.” The projects in Sector 38A and Sector 16A are close to Noida’s biggest commercial hub, Sector 18, which houses multiple shopping malls, food outlets, restaurants and shops on one side and the low-cost, densely crowded Atta Market on the other.
