[ecis2016.org] Following a delay of 13 years, the redevelopment work of Patra Chawl starts.
The redevelopment work for Patra Chawl, which was pending since 2008, has finally been launched. On October 23, 2021, tenders were floated inviting bids for the redevelopment of Goregaon’s Patra Chawl, four months after the Maharashtra Cabinet approved the plan. With the redevelopment of the Patra Chawl, 672 residents will get their homes, who had won allotments through MHADA’s lottery system.
According to a government resolution, the state housing department has issued a mandate to the MHADA to get the state approval before awarding a contract for redevelopment to avoid any kind of problem to the home buyers. Only on submission of a detailed plan will an NOC and other approvals for the project will be granted.
The redevelopment work will include survey of the location, planning and designing of the project, construction and structural restoration. The work will also include taking necessary permissions, amendments and all the necessary completion and occupation certificate from local authorities concerned so as to complete the redevelopment project. The e-tender dates for the Patra Chawl redevelopment are from November 2, 2021, to December 17, 2021, and the pre-bid is on November 17, 2021.
The MHADA has earlier granted the redevelopment work of Patra Chawl, spread over 47 acres, to Guru Ashish Developers. However, the project ran into legal troubles and the developer went into insolvency in 2017.
Patra Chawl also known as Siddharth Nagar is located in Goregaon.
