Objective of MDDA

The agency is not only responsible for keeping pace with the needs of the growing population, by providing relevant infrastructure but also maintaining the natural charm of the environmentally diversified Dehradun-Mussoorie region. The key responsibility of the MMDA is the development of the Dehradun-Mussoorie region in a planned manner, creating quality infrastructure, provision of sites and services and catering to the housing needs of the under-privileged.

To make the city meet modern urban standards, the MDDA undertakes the following:

  • Implementing the master plans
  • Acquiring land to implement various schemes
  • Enforcing plans and development schemes
  • Adopting measures for the protection of the natural environment in the development area.

MDDA ISBT housing scheme 2020

The MDDA is currently selling housing units for the high-income group (HIG) and middle-income group (MIG) on a first-come-first-serve basis. The flats meant for the HIG category are divided into two categories – Type A and B, based on their covered area. While Type A flats have a covered area of 1,388 sq ft and super area of 1,954 sq ft, Type B homes have a covered area of over 1,558 sq ft and super area of 3,280 sq ft. The area covered in the MIG flats is 918 sq ft while the super area is 1,506 sq ft.

While the prices of the flats meant for the HIG category ranges between Rs 71.50 lakhs and Rs 79.20 lakhs, the rate of flats in the MIG category has been capped at Rs 49.50 lakhs. Buyers have to pay 10% of the flat’s cost as the booking amount, while the remaining money has to be paid in three instalments: 15% at the time of allotment, 50% in the next six months and the remaining amount on possession.

In October 2020, the MDDA also offered discounts on flats under different categories near ISBT and Transport Nagar areas and waived off the interest payment for the initial 75 days of the lockdown.

MDDA to conduct soil testing for fresh development

The MDDA and the railway land development authority are set to start the process of soil testing for developing areas near the city railway station as high-rise building zones. Once the report is submitted after inspection, construction work will start.
