“The hillock on Title Survey Number 101, Survey No 38 (part), was found to be being demolished with earthmovers. So, I have lodged a complaint with the Powai police station on Wednesday (December 5, 2018),” said the activist, Ravindra Tiwari. “I have grown up seeing these hillocks but now it seems they are being erased, to create more land for development,” he said.

The activist also said that he had written to the state environment ministry, to look into the matter and inquire about the permissions given to the builder, to carry out construction work on these hillocks which had green cover.
When contacted, Anil Pophale, senior police inspector attached to the Powai police station, said, “Prima facie, I do not find anything dubious, as the builder has produced all the permissions. However, still, we will conduct a further probe.”
