Speaking at a Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) seminar on ‘Sustainable Real Estate’, Kumar said the KoPT has 4,000 acres of land in the city, 60 per cent of which is being used for various port-related activity. “We intend to provide the land, in parcels, for real estate development, for which the KoPT has started the e-tendering process for a portion of it,” Kumar said.

Once we get the approval, we will put the land parcel on the block,” he said.

West Bengal Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim, said the industry should come forward for setting up warehouses and logistics hubs, as online shopping is gaining momentum in the country. This, he said, would generate employment in the state.
