Dr Who David Tennant Quotes From The Tenth Doctor That Is Still Perfect Today
There were many companions for the Tenth Doctor, including Rose Tyler, Matha Jones, and Donna Noble. The Tenth Doctor was a quirky and charming character, flirty, and loved by all who met him. His best quotes were still relevant today to many of his fans.
1. Some People Live Longer In Twenty Years Than Others Do In Eighty.
Season 3, Episode 6, “The Lazarus Experiment,” sees the Doctor argue with Lazarus, who is trying to prolong his life. Dr. Lazarus is an old man who fears death but, more importantly, what he hasn’t accomplished in his life.
He is experiencing a change as a result of the experiment. The Doctor tells him that “living” and “being alive” are two different things. It doesn’t work that way.
Some people live longer in twenty years than others in eighty. It is not the time that matters. It’s the person. This quote is a great reminder to enjoy each moment and do your best to live life to the fullest.
2. New teeth. That’s weird.
These were the Tenth Doctor’s first words after his regeneration. Time Lords never know what they will look like after they change, and it can sometimes be very strange and NOT ginger-y.
3. Wibbly-Wobbly, Timey-Wimey… Stuff.
Season 3, Episode 10, “Blink,” introduces the Weeping angels. It was the tenth episode and quickly became a classic. A young couple is taught by the Doctor how to avoid the angels. However, he discovers that he must also explain how time works to them.
The complete quote can be found here: “People assume time is a linear progression of cause and effect. But, in fact, it’s more like an enormous ball of wibbly wobbly timey-wimey stuff.” This quote, which is also a fan favorite, became a popular part of Doctor Who merchandise.
4. Sorry. That’s The Lion King.
Tennant’s debut episode as The Doctor, the Christmas special “The Christmas Invasion”, is Tennant’s first complete episode. He recovers from a regeneration-induced sleep coma just in the time it takes to save the Earth and its inhabitants from Sycorax. He realizes that he is actually quoting a Disney classic as he tries to appeal to their more positive natures.
5. I’m Sorry, I’m So Sorry.
The Tenth Doctor is well-known for his compassion for humanity and those who have made the ultimate sacrifices in his journey. The Tenth Doctor’s most cherished quote is “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry” to everyone and everything he has done.
6. Oh, how to explain the mechanics of the infinite temporal flux? I know: Back to the Future! It’s like Back to the Future!
It is not true that The Doctor doesn’t know pop culture. The episode “The Shakespeare Code” features Ten making two Harry Potter references and using the Robert Zemeckis film as a guide to his companion.
7. I’m Burning Up The Sun Just To Say Goodbye.
Rose Tyler and the Doctor must part ways in season 2, the bittersweet finale. Rose is sent to another parallel univers where the Doctor cannot pull her out of or take her to. This, of course, destroys him (and everyone else who sees this scene).
The Doctor discovers a way for her to contact the Doctor at the end of the episode when many fans believe their abrupt separation is just a farewell. To appear before her for what he believes is the final time, he uses the entire sun.
“Inside the TARDIS. One tiny gap remains in the universe, and it is about to close. It takes a lot of power to send this projection. I’m orbiting around a supernova. To say goodbye, I’m just burning up the sun.
8. I love you. — Rose Tyler
Quite right too. And I suppose if it’s one last chance to say it… Rose Tyler… — The Doctor
It’s a heart-stopping scene between Rose Tyler and The Doctor after she is pulled into another dimension. The Doctor burns Rose Tyler to his farewells, and she finally admits to her love for him.
They have been fighting to say it to each other throughout the series. Even a few episodes before, the Doctor thought that he was going mad and said, “If you get back in touch… If you talk to Rose… just tell them I… Oh, She Knows.” Even after they reached safety, he hadn’t yet said it.

In his last moments before the transmission cuts, just after she tells her that she loves him, he utters the above quote. He can’t actually speak the words, so the transmission cuts. The camera pans to him in the TARDIS, and he is openly speaking, his mouth wide open. But now, no one can hear him.
9. You Can Spend The Rest Of Your Life With Me, But I Can’t Spend The Rest Of Mine With You. I Have To Live On. Alone. That’s The Curse Of The Time Lords.
Rose Tyler was also given this quote by the Tenth Doctor. Rose Tyler was likely to be the Doctor’s primary love interest throughout the series, along with some other important characters like Sarah Jane Smith or River Song.
Rose says that she wants to be with the Doctor forever, just a few moments before the finale of the season in which Rose and the Doctor are forced to part ways. The Doctor is a bit saddened by this idea, and he shares the difficult life of a Time Lord with Rose in the quote.
10. People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it’s more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff.
This segment from “Blink”, in which The Doctor is trapped in 1969 and uses hidden messages on DVDs as a way to return to his original place, was one of the most interesting (or perhaps the worst) explanations for the fabric of time. This last sentence makes perfect sense to millions.
11. I’ve Seen Fake Gods And Bad Gods And Demigods And Would-Be Gods; Out Of All That, Out Of That Whole Pantheon, If I Believe In One Thing… Just One Thing… I Believe In Her.
The episode “The Satan Pit”, season 2, episode 9, features Rose and the Doctor on a planet orbiting a black hole that contains a large pit that houses the Beast. Some of the crew are able to control the Beast and the Oods that assist them.
The episode features the Doctor traveling down the pit to confront and stop Beast while Rose Tyler watches from above. The Doctor finds himself in a dangerous situation. He isn’t sure if it will end in his favor, but he trusts Rose Tyler and believes in her will.
12. Don’t blink
In the same episode, “Blink” introduced viewers to the Weeping Angels. They are a group known as “lonely killers” that can send their victims back decades in time with a touch. They can also turn into stone if they are seen. According to The Doctor, “blink, and you’re dead.”
13. Allons-Y
This famous quote is from the Tenth Doctor, and he repeats it quite often throughout the series. The Doctor explains that “let’s go” is French and uses it as his catchphrase.
Nearly every Doctor has one. The Ninth was “Fantastic”, Eleven was “Geronimo,” and “Allonsy” seemed to be the right choice for being between these two. Ten loves to use it often and almost uses it every time an adventure begins.
14. What’s a horse doing on a spaceship? — Mickey
Mickey, what’s pre-revolutionary France doing on a spaceship? Get a little perspective. — The Doctor
Rose, his companion, and boyfriend of The Doctor, are taken aboard a spaceship in the distant future by The Doctor. They are shocked to find two things: portals leading into France in the 1700s and… a horse. Ten reminds Mickey of the gravity of the situation after he is shocked to see the horse.
15. You Want Weapons? We’re In A Library! Books! The Best Weapons In The World!
This quote will be a beacon of hope for all readers. Books are the greatest weapon in the world. They give knowledge and can be used to take people far away.
This quote comes from season 2’s episode “Tooth and Claw”, where the Doctor, Rose, Queen Victoria, and Sir Robert are trapped in an estate library. The complete quote is, “You want guns?” We are in a library. Books are the greatest weapon in the universe. This is the best room we have. “Arm yourself!”
16. Are you my mummy?
Rose and Doctor were being followed by a child wearing a gas mask. It asked everyone, “are you, my mother?” In the first season, Ten discovers that he is wearing a gas mask in “The Poisoned Sky.” He can’t help but call back – even though no one else understands what he’s talking about.
17. I’m the Doctor
He is a true gentleman, and despite the fact that he cares more for others than himself (thus why he has risked his life to save all of the universe 100 kabillion-zillion time), he doesn’t have any illusions about how badass he truly is. As in the speech from “Voyage of the Damned.”
18. I don’t want to go.
This could not have ended anywhere else, and I’m so sorry. Tennant’s final farewell is just as important as any catchphrase. Tennant loved being the 10th Doctor, and he didn’t want it to end.
These are just some of the great Doctor Who quotes from David Tennant’s era. We would love to hear your favorite quotes down below.

Why did David Tennant stop being the doctor?
Deciding to move on after making the role his own, the Scottish actor didn’t want to “outstay” his welcome, saying: “It would be very easy to cling on to the TARDIS console forever and I fear that if I don’t take a deep breath and make the decision to move on now, then I simply never will.”
Why does the doctor say Allons y?

Will Dr. Who ever end?
Yes, in all honesty, the series will one day come to an end; however, as long as it is making money for the BBC, that day may be a very long time away in the future. Doctor Who ended the first time because of a combination of political forces and the BBC letting the same production team control the show for too long.
