Possibility of stamp duty cut in Ghaziabad in 2021
In spite of several directives from the central government and industry bodies, to lower the stamp duty on property registrations (a measure applied by many states in the aftermath of the Coronavirus crisis to offer relief to developer community and to buyers), Uttar Pradesh has maintained a status quo on stamp duty rates. Considering the rates are comparatively high in Ghaziabad, there is scope for the state government to cut stamp duty in the city, which is known primarily for its affordable properties.
In 2020, the Uttar Pradesh RERA recommended that the state announce a stamp duty reduction of 2%, to encourage home buyers. However, this suggestion has so far remained unheeded.
