A patwari is a person working with the local authority, who is responsible for maintaining the land ownership records for a specific area, as well as keeping a record of land tax collection. The term is usually used in north and central India. These positions are at the sub-division or tehsil level. His major duties include visiting agricultural lands and maintaining a record of ownership and tiling. The patwari reports to the tehsildar, who is the chief clerk of tehsil land records.

How to become a Patwari

To become a patwari, applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline, along with basic computer knowledge. Apart from this, it is compulsory for the candidate to have CPCT (Computer Proficiency Certification Test) scorecard with Hindi typing and computer proficiency. In the absence of a CPCT scorecard, the candidate can submit the same within two years of selection in the exam. The candidate should be minimum 18 years of age while the maximum age limit is 40 years.
