Kherki Daula bypass road to be ready after monsoons

[ecis2016.org] The Kherki Daula bypass road is likely to be completed after the monsoons, with construction pending on only a 400-metre stretch between Sectors 76 and 77, HUDA has revealed

Started in January 2018, HUDA is planning to complete the Kherki Daula bypass road after the monsoons. This alternative route, through Sector 76, is nearing completion, except for a 400-metre stretch between Sectors 76 and 77. The four-lane, five-km road on the eastern side of the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, connects the Southern Peripheral Road with NH-8. The road merges with NH-8 a mere 300 metres from the toll plaza.

According to Harinder Dhillon, VP (sales), DLF, “The road bypassing Kherki Daula toll, will change the face of New Gurugram. It will allow commuters from Golf Course Road, Faridabad and parts of Gurugram, to reach Manesar directly, without encountering the Kherki Daula toll. Not only will it enhance connectivity to New Gurugram, but also drastically reduce travel time.”

Rahul Singla, director of real estate major Mapsko, concurs, “The alternative route will benefit commuters, who will no longer have to encounter traffic jams. It will also improve connectivity and herald the development of adjoining residential sectors, benefiting home buyers.”

The residents of new sectors, 80 and 90, will also benefit from this bypass road, as they will be able to reach Golf Course Road, Sohna Road, Faridabad Road and other parts of Gurugram, without the need to cross the toll plaza.

Ravish Kapoor, director of the Elan Group, added that developers having projects in the new sectors were excited, as the bypass road would improve connectivity and reduce travel time. The road will become a lifeline for lakhs of commuters coming from Faridabad and nearby areas to Gurugram, as they would be able to reach Manesar, without having to cross the congested and time-consuming Kherki Daula toll plaza. It will also benefit real estate projects coming up along SPR, says Kapoor.

However, Millennium City Expressway Private Limited (MCEPL), the company managing the Kherki Daula toll plaza, has raised objections to the road, in a letter to the NHAI. “This project is being given a completion target of July 2018 and will connect to NH-8 at the 42-km milestone. If this road is connected with NH-8, the revenue generated by the toll plaza, also at 42 km, will be reduced to a minimum, as maximum traffic will be diverted via HUDA’s new road. We request the access of this HUDA road with NH-8, should not be granted,” MCEPL said. Nevertheless, although the Kherki Daula bypass road has not been officially inaugurated, vehicles have already started to ply on the road, skipping the regular traffic jams at the toll plaza.
