Telangana CM seeks detailed project report, for new ring road in Hyderabad

[ecis2016.org] Pointing out that Hyderabad’s existing outer ring road could not cater to future traffic, Telangana chief minister has asked officials to prepare a detailed project report for a new regional ring road

Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, on August 9, 2018, asked officials to prepare a detailed project report, for developing a regional ring road on the other side of the existing outer ring road, in Hyderabad. Rao, who held a meeting with officials, said the proposed ring road should be developed on par with international standards, a release from his office said. He also said he would speak to central government officials concerned, for obtaining funds for the construction of the proposed ring road, it said.

There will be increase of commuters from every nook and corner, regularly to Hyderabad, the release quoted Rao as saying. As the existing outer ring road will not be adequate for the floating traffic in future, the government has decided to construct the regional ring road, it said. The regional ring road would be laid at a stretch of 338 kms, covering Sangareddy-Gajwel-Choutuppal, Mal-Kadthal and ShadnagarChevella-Kandi (on the outskirts of Hyderabad), it said.

“The width of the road will be 500 ft. The proposed regional ring road should surpass the existing Mumbai-Pune and Ahmedabad-Vadodara express highways. The junction roads connecting Vijayawada, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Nagpur, are to be developed,” it said.
