“The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has already initiated digitisation of the approval processes for building plans. With the country heading towards ‘Design in India’ after ‘Make in India’, there is a need to take digitisation to the next level,” Fadnavis said, at an ‘Ease of Doing Business’ event organised by the BMC on May 6, 2016.
He said that the corporation has taken the first step of digitisation of all the approval processes, to ensure transparency and ease of doing business for developers.

“Now, we need to make use of the latest technology, for integrating the entire digitisation process with the 3D satellite imagery system, which will help us in keeping a tab on unauthorised constructions,” Fadnavis said.
With the help of satellite images, the BMC would be able to track construction activities and if the authorities found any kind of deviation or irregularities, they could take action immediately, he elaborated.
He added that apart from Mumbai, certain other municipal corporations and councils have created a single development control regulation (DCR), which will be applicable for construction projects in the respective areas. “In the next two months, we will be able to launch it in those areas and the approval processes, will be digitally enabled,” said Fadnavis.
