About Charles Bukowski

Henry Charles Bukowski born as Heinrich Karl Bukowski (also known as Hank or Buk) is an American novelist, poet, and short-story writer. Buk is one of the most honest and authentic writers I’ve ever had the pleasure to read.

Bukowski’s writings were influenced by alcoholism, sex workers, and losing gamblers. He also wrote about relationships, love, life, and many other topics. Bukowski’s artistic output is both an accurate representation of his autobiographical truths and thought-provoking fiction.

OK, that famous Dirty old Man ( Notes from a Dirty Old Men, anyone?) There were flaws. He was self-medicated and was constantly under the influence of cigarettes or booze. It doesn’t sound smart to take life lessons from downtown L.A. drunks. I love my heroes flawed… to an extreme. (Shoutout to Post Office).

Charles Bukowski, the arrogant, indulgent, and controversial Charles Bukowski – The enabler of self-destructive hearts and minds yet, I like his truthfulness and clarity (just as in Ham On Rye).

He was abused by his father and wrote to cope with the pain. Is he a tortured genius? Perhaps. Sometimes, a tragedy in a person’s life can be transformed into some of the most beautiful lines and verses the world has ever seen.

Some may find Buk preached, while others might call him a borderline cynic. My opinion is that it was his reality, and not him, that was cynical. Fight me.

He has been my best friend for more than eight years. It’s true. He romanticizes and glorifies the problem of alcohol dependence as well as the lifestyles of bums. His poetry and prose are raw, honest, and provocative.

Charles Bukowski’s writing is a treasure trove of bizarre, outrageous, and brilliantly written pages that you won’t be able to miss if you haven’t read one word. His writing is simple, sharp, and dark (check Factotum), but it’s also funny. He would have dominated Twitter.

It’s also funny because his face looks so weathered by life, and yet he smiles deep down. No matter what your personal feelings are, Buk’s insights into writing mastery are extraordinary. I’ve compiled the best Charles Bukowski quotes for you. Finally, reincarnation must be a requirement for prisoners, such as Bukowski.
