[ecis2016.org] In 2017, the Uttar Pradesh government launched the anti-bhu mafia portal to check growing cases of land grab in the state. Read on to know how to register and track complaints regarding illegal land grabbing and the role of anti-bhu mafia task force
Thousands of hectares of land in Uttar Pradesh have fallen into the clutches of the bhu mafia or the land mafia. While the authorities are cracking down on such cases, many cases also go unreported. In 2017, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath launched an ‘anti-bhu mafia’ portal, to enable anybody to report instances of land grab by individuals, gangs and companies. This became essential, given the numerous cases where government land was usurped and used for private, illegal construction. The bhunaksha Uttar Pradesh portal does provide some relief to prospective plot buyers but at the same time, it is also important that individuals should know where to go, in case they need to report illegal constructions or if they come across gangs operating in nexus with private developers. The Jansunwai-Samadhan portal is the answer.
