Haryana to link old parts of Gurugram with metro

The Haryana government, on July 8, 2017, said that it has decided to link parts of old and new Gurugram through the metro rail. HUDA City Centre would be connected with the railway station. This was disclosed at a meeting of officers of the central and Haryana governments, presided over by the union minister of state for planning and urban development, Rao Inderjit Singh and Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, said an official release.

According to the feasibility report prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the 17.11-km metro corridor would connect HUDA City Centre with Gurugram railway station. The corridor would feature 15 stations. This project would be completed at a cost of Rs 3,739 crores.

The union minister held out the assurance that he would try and get Haryana more funds for development works, through the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB). It was decided to submit more proposals to the NCRPB, so that various development works could be implemented, the release said.

Regarding the Natural Conservation Zones, the CM assured the union minister that the Haryana government was committed towards sustainable development of the state and that efforts were being made to ensure maximum afforestation. Discussions were also held on the provisions of the Real Estate Regulation Act (RERA). The chief minister said the state government would soon implement RERA, in consonance with the spirit of the central act, after getting the approval of the state cabinet.
