Real estate developer K Raheja Corp has received a Gold rating certification, for Building 12 A in its commercial business park Mindspace, at Madhapur in Hyderabad, from the US Green Building Council (USGBC). Mindspace was also the first commercial business park in Hyderabad, to be certified with an IGBC Gold rating, recently.

Building 12 A was recognised for its sustainable practices and solutions and earned 69 points. These practices included shuttle services and electric charging stations for e-vehicles, preferred parking spaces for carpool vehicles, rainwater management, its high solar reflective index roof, 100 per cent covered parking, high performance glazing, renewable energy generation through on-site solar PV panels, reuse and recycling of waste water, use of low-VOC paints, adhesives and sealants and outdoor air provision as per ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) standards. Sustainability efforts have resulted in building 12 A recording water savings of 63.4 per cent and energy savings of 18.6 per cent.

Commenting on the rating, Shabbir Kanchwala, senior vice-president, K Raheja Corp said, “Green projects form the foundation of a clean environment and encourage healthy spaces. This recognition by the esteemed USGBC, is a testimony to our efforts and a huge encouragement to the team. We will continue to provide our clients with a sustainable environment that is not just safe but healthy too, which would benefit the society at large.”

Spread across 110 acres, with 21 per cent landscape cover and 3,500 trees planted across the campus, Mindspace Business Park also has energy and water meters to map consumption and ensure optimum utilisation and savings, for better planning and usage. The campus comprises of 21 commercial buildings, with 10 million sq ft of built-up area, having over 80,000 occupants. Under a recent list released by the USGBC, India is ranked third for the most sustainable spaces in the world.
