After a wait of over two years, the government of Andhra Pradesh recently prepared a plan and announced the allotment of houses developed by the Andhra Pradesh Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation (AP TIDCO). Under this plan, the government will provide the beneficiaries with AP TIDCO houses, spanning an area of 300 sq ft at the cost of rupee one.

The Andhra Pradesh government is planning to distribute 90,000 TIDCO houses in AP to the beneficiaries. The government is working towards completing the construction of 28.3 lakh homes for the eligible families at a cost of Rs 1,08,553 crores by 2023. The state’s housing minister, Ranganatha Raju, said that as many as 15,60,227 houses were under construction under the first phase of the housing scheme. About 12.7 lakh homes would be constructed in the second phase. He further added that around Rs 1,200 crores would be spent on drinking water and Rs 32,909 crores for infrastructure facilities like roads, power and drainage systems in the colonies.

The development of around five lakh houses by TIDCO, in the G+3 apartment plan, had begun in the urban areas under the housing scheme. The TDP government had awarded tenders for the construction of the apartments. These residential units are available across configurations including 300 sq ft, 365 sq ft and 430 sq ft.

The basic structure of about 2.62 lakh houses has been completed in various towns of the state. However, work on the remaining 2.4 lakh houses did not begin owing to technical issues, including pending land acquisition. Provision of basic facilities and works costing around Rs 3,000 crores, related to the infrastructure in these TIDCO townships, were yet to be completed under the previous government’s tenure. The state government now aims to spend Rs 9,500 crores, for completing the TIDCO housing project by 2022.

The Andhra Pradesh government is preparing for the distribution of TIDCO houses in Andhra Pradesh to the beneficiaries in a phased manner. The process of handing over the possession of the AP TIDCO houses is expected to be completed in one year. By June 2022, around 1.5 lakh APTIDCO homes will be distributed across the state and the remaining houses will be handed over in various phases.

Among the 2.62 lakh houses, about 1.43 lakh beneficiaries belong to the category of below 300 sq ft, while there are 44,300 units of 365 sq ft area and 74,300 units of 430 sq ft area. The below-300-sq ft flats will be allotted for Re 1, while the government will spend about Rs 3,805 crores. For the beneficiaries belonging to the other two categories, the government will pay half of the advance to be paid by the beneficiaries, by allocating Rs 482 crores. The houses with 365 sq ft area will cost Rs 4 lakhs and those with 430 sq ft area will cost Rs 4.65 lakhs. The beneficiaries will have to pay Rs 50,000 for a house of 365 sq ft area and Rs 1 lakh for a house of 430 sq ft area. Bankers will be asked to provide long-term loans for the remaining amount.

Recently, the minister for Energy, Environment, Forests, Science and Technology, Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, had said that the government planned to allot TIDCO houses in AP to 4,128 beneficiaries in Ongole city. Further, the minister said that the housing plots would be allocated to around 30 lakh families across the state.

Eligible citizens can access the official portal of the APTIDCO Housing Scheme to register. Create a login ID by selecting a username and password. Enter these details and type in the captcha, to successfully register on the portal.

Government plans to hand over units to beneficiaries in phases; TIDCO houses expected to be completed by end of 2022

The Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD), A Suresh, recently said that TIDCO houses will be handed over to the beneficiaries in a phased manner by the end of 2022. The government plans to develop around 40,000 houses will be developed under Phase I by the end of May 2022, about 90,000 houses under Phase II by June 2022, 65,000 houses under Phase III by September 2022, and 62,000 houses under Phase IV by December. Thus, the government plans to hand over nearly 2.62 lakh houses to the beneficiaries.

GVMC plans to hand over TIDCO houses

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is preparing to allot around 4,050 AP TIDCO houses in the first phase. The distribution of housing units is expected to begin in the next few weeks. Around 56,000 housing units were sanctioned to Vizag city under ‘affordable housing in partnership category’ of PMAY. However, even after four years, construction works on only half of these units were launched. About 24,000 TIDCO houses in AP with sizes of 300 square feet, 365 square feet and 430 square feet are under construction in several parts of Visakhapatnam district. The housing units of 300 square feet will be allotted to beneficiaries for only rupee one.

Beneficiaries in Ongole to get TIDCO houses from December 23, 2021

Prakasam District Collector, Pravin Kumar, has directed officials to start the distribution of the houses constructed by the AP TIDCO from December 23, 2021. The construction of houses was complete in Kandukur and the officials have been asked to complete construction of houses at other places.
