Bihar State Building Construction Corporation: Responsibilities

Here are some of the key responsibilities of this organisation:

1. To purchase, take on lease or acquire by transfer, any building owned by the state government, for the purpose of rent collection, construction, maintenance, management or control.
2. To invite tenders of all departments of the government of Bihar and other infrastructure construction, renovation or development.
3. To establish, construct, provide, administer and maintain estates, townships, building yards, walls, pipelines, water reservoirs and storage sheds in the state.
4. To buy, sell and deal in stones, cement, iron and steel, to undertake the manufacture of lime, cement, concrete, mortar, bricks and building materials of all kinds.
5. To undertake the procurement, purchase, or manufacture and deal in cement, lime, minerals, gravel, sand, coke, fuel, artificial stone and requisite material. This also includes hiring timber, iron and wood merchants, timber growers and dealers in all kinds of goods.
6. To plan and design building networks, to provide optimised connectivity to residential and non-residential government buildings of different departments.
7. To construct, renovate, upgrade and maintain residential and non-residential government buildings of different departments.

Bihar State Building Construction Corporation: Future projects

Telhara Museum, Nalanda: Telhara is one of the cities with historical importance, as it was the site of a Buddhist monastery in ancient India. Telhara has been mentioned as Teladhaka in the writings of Hiuen Tsang, the Chinese traveller, who visited the place in the 7th century CE.

Multi-Storeyed residential quarters in Chajjubag, Patna: New residential quarters are proposed to be built for government officers by the corporation. The construction is expected to begin soon, once the land parcel is finalised.

Lakhisarai Museum: To be built at a cost of Rs 27 crores, the museum will promote tourism in the region. The area was once the capital region for several ancient dynasties. A number of Buddha idols were also found in the region, which will be soon kept as part of the collection in this museum.
