HIDCO plot lottery 2021
In August 2021, the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation conducted a lottery for the allotment of 400 plots in the middle-income group (MIG) and higher income group (HIG) categories, in New Town’s Action Area 1, 2 and 3. The plots will be used for the proposed cooperative societies of different categories. The plots under the HIDCO lottery scheme will be given for residential use with a 99-year lease agreement. The housing project will begin after approval from the Cabinet Committee of Industrial Infrastructure. Each building will comprise eight flats and one cooperative society to which these flats will handed over. The housing cooperative societies must be formed as per the West Bengal Cooperative Society Act, 2006.
The plots are classified as:
- Type 1, for housing cooperatives formed exclusively by government employees.
- Type 2, for housing cooperatives formed by individuals who do not belong to the Type 1 category.
HIDCO had published a notice, inviting applicants to participate in the HIDCO lottery. The plots range from four to six cottahs in size. In West Bengal, one cottah is equal to 720 sq ft.
In this scheme, government employees with income between Rs 30,000 and Rs 80,000 can apply for MIG houses and those above this limit can apply for HIG houses.
