Pipelines / CUDA cores 1920 2304
Core clock speed 1320 MHz 1465 MHz
Boost clock speed 1620 MHz 1725 MHz
Number of transistors 10,800 million 10,300 million
Manufacturing process technology 12 nm 7 nm
Thermal design power (TDP) 160 Watt 180 Watt
Texture fill rate 201.6 248.4

Dimensions

It is essential to know the dimensions of a GPU. This will allow you to make sure that your build has enough space. Most graphics cards are the same size, though they may vary in size.

These are the dimensions of each GPU:

AMD Radeon RX 5700

  • Height – 4.37 inches
  • Length: 10.5″
  • Width – Dual Slot

Nvidia RTX 2060

  • Height – 4.4255″
  • Length – 9.0
  • Width – 2 Slots

The 5700 is longer. 2060 might be a better choice if your build is shorter. The 2060’s height is slightly higher than the 5700.

These two GPUs are very different in the interface. The RX5700 uses the most recent PCIe 4.0 x16 interface, while the RTX2060 uses PCIe 3.0 x16. PCIe 3.0 remains widely used, but PCIe 4.0 has a more modern interface.

You can also use the AMD Radeon RX 5700 with a PCIe interface. This is the best option for future-proofing, particularly when it comes down to cost.

Resolutions/FPS

It is essential to set the resolution and frame rate of your graphics card. This determines the quality of the image and the way the image is displayed on the screen.

The resolution of the Radeon RX 5700 is 1440p. The RX 5700 performs well in 4K gaming. The resolution of the RTX is 7680×4320. It supports 4K gaming but performs slightly better at 1080p.

Most gamers prefer 1080p, so both resolutions are acceptable. The RX5700 is, however, more durable.

Let’s look at the performance of each GPU when benchmarked. The RX 5700 was better than the RX 2060 by 2% regarding overall effective speed. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 scored 4% higher when compared to the average score.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060’s MRender speed was one area that stood out. The overall speed was 33% higher. The RTX 2060 was able to deliver 134 fps as compared to the RX5700’s 101 fps.

The RX 5700 had a 14% higher NBody calculation. The RTX 2060 had a 9% higher NBody calculation when overclocked and had a higher fps MRender/Reflection. The RX 5700 had 123fps Gravity, while 2060 was 109fps.

The RX5700 was better at benchmarking gameplay for most games. The 5700 was able to run Overwatch at 133 frames per second on max 1080p, compared to the 2060’s speed of 119.

It was interesting to see the results of benchmarking. The RX 5700 performed better in gameplay, but the GeForce RTX 2060 did better at multi rendering.

Cooling

RTX 2060 vs RX 5700 - Cooling

You should carefully consider what type of cooling system the GPU uses when choosing it. You may need a more relaxed cooling system if you plan to increase your computer’s speed. Overclocking can cause the temperature to rise significantly.

The RX5700 uses one fan and a blower-style cooling system. The fan circulates the air around the GPU, keeping it cool.

Two dual-axial 13 blade fans are used by the RTX 2060. They keep the GPU cool and provide quiet performance.

Because it uses a next-generation 6 phase power supply, the RTX 2060 is different from the RX5700. This is an excellent option if you want to overclock your GPU dramatically.

The maximum GPU temperature for the RX5700 is 110. It is 88 for the year 2060. The difference is significant. These numbers represent the maximum heat before you turn on your overclocker.

The RX5700 consumes 180W, while the RTX2060 consumes 160W. Nvidia cards are far more power-hungry than the AMD. 600W is the recommended power supply for RX 5700, while 500W is recommended for RTX 2060.

The RTX 2060 appears to have a better cooling system, while the RX 5700 has the most powerful GPU.

Ray Tracing

Ray Tracing can create more realistic lighting effects in-game. Ray Tracing is an excellent option for games like Quake II RTX or Battlefield.

This is still a relatively new concept, and only Nvidia GPUs currently have it embedded in their cards. This is why the RTX 2060 comes with this feature, and the RX 5700 doesn’t.

Although the lighting is still excellent with the AMD GPU’s graphics, its capabilities are not as impressive as Nvidia’s ray tracing.

VRAM

The VRAM is an essential factor when choosing a GPU. For 1080p resolution, a good gaming GPU must have at least 8GB. You will need more storage if you plan to play at 4K.

Both GPUs can store data at a speed of 14Gbps. The memory size of the RX5700 has 8GB, while the RTX2060 has 6GB. Both have the same memory type: GDDR6. This is the current highest specification as GDDR7 has yet to be released.

It is the more affordable option due to the more significant memory of the RX5700. This is, however, reflected in the higher price.

RTX 2060 and RX 5700 Price

The RTX 2060 is more affordable than it looks. The good news? With the release of RTX2060 SUPER, the RTX2060’s price tag is dropping to $350. The AMD RX 5700 is the closest card, and it costs $349.

Conclusion

It’s a tough choice between these two video cards. The RTX 2060 is a great choice for lower resolution gaming at 1440p and above while the RX 5700 delivers an excellent frame rate in 1440p games.

There are not many other applications where the RTX 2060 cannot match the RX 5700, although if you’re looking for better performance in 4K games then the RX 5700 should be your choice. Also, you will need to consider that when using the RTX 2060 at 1440p, your FPS may drop when you scale up to 4K.
