Dahisar in the northern suburbs of Mumbai houses the last railway station of the city. This small town is situated on the Salsette island and has a beautiful landscape overlooking the inlet of the Manori Creek. It has salt pans on the west and scenic hills of the National Park on the east. Like most suburban towns of Mumbai, Dahisar too is divided into east and west. Dahisar village originally comprised of 10 hamlets. The recorded history of the village dates back to the 1630s. Dahisar was connected to Mumbai via the railway line in 1867 and since then, it has witnessed the settlement of migrants from nearby regions of the Konkan. Earlier, Dahisar used to be a part of the Thane district of Maharashtra but was later incorporated into Mumbai city in 1956 and became part of the Bombay Suburban Districts.
