Katraj property market: An overview

Katraj is a suburban locality of Pune located in Maharashtra. It falls under the jurisdiction of the city’s municipal corporation. The locality is bordered by Ambegaon and Kondhwa at its south. The locality of Katraj is divided into the Old Tunnel and the New Tunnel. The Old Tunnel has its location on the Katraj Ghat while the New Tunnel is located on the National Highway 4. The Old Tunnel is used by MSRTC buses and other vehicles for travelling from Swargate to South Maharashtra. The New Tunnel is a three-lane tunnel which is 1,338 meters in length.

The locality of Katraj is located in proximity to the developed areas of Ambegaon Budruk, Bibwewadi, Gultekdi, Kondhwa, Parvati Darshan and Vadgaon Budruk. The landmarks of the locality include Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park and a lake. The lake is strewn over a total area of 17 hectares (42 acres) and is bordered by the Snake Park on three sides.

The locality is well-connected to various developed areas and a number of hotels, schools, banks and hospitals via an excellent network of railways and roadways. The locality is witnessing an increase in population in recent years, owing to its proximity to various employment hubs.

  • It is located on the Pune Link Road which makes access to Pune and Mumbai easy. Also, with Satara and Bengaluru to its south, it makes them easily accessible from Katraj.
  • The locality enjoys unimpeded connectivity to the different parts of Pune city through the Mumbai-Pune Bypass Road.
  • The Pune Municipal Transport (PMT) serves the locality and connects it to areas of Santosh Nagar, Dar Nagar and Yewalewadi.
  • The railway station is situated at a distance of 12 kilometres.
