SDMC plans multi-level automated car park in Dwarka

[ecis2016.org] Seeking to address civic woes in south Delhi’s Dwarka, the area’s municipal body has planned to set up multi-level automated stack parking facilities and rejuvenate water bodies

Acknowledging that the number of vehicles in Dwarka sub-city was increasing, South Delhi Municipal Corporation’s mayor said that the civic body was ‘keen to set up multi-level automated stack parking in order to provide more space’, in market areas in sectors 6 and 11. South Delhi mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat also inspected various sectors and villages under ward no. 38 (Dwarka-B), to identify developmental projects to be undertaken on a priority basis.

“There will be minimum human interference in the functioning of these parking lots,” Sehrawat said in a statement. In stack facilities, cars are parked in a stacked-up fashion on a grill-made structure, which has two or three platforms. Cars from the bottom are moved mechanically to the top level first and then, the lower levels are filled.

During her visit to village areas, she also asked the Engineering Department to rejuvenate water bodies at Pochanpur and Ambrahi, in consultation with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

She also announced the construction of an office complex with an indoor games facilities. The mayor also directed officials to work out a detailed plan, on the beautification of various roadsides and roundabouts. Further, she asked officers to redevelop the ‘Panchyat Ghar’ at Ambrahi village, after obtaining a no-objection certificate from the DDA. She made it clear that the SDMC would develop villages at par with the colonies of urban areas, the SDMC said in the statement.
