The Ambala Kotputli Expressway is an upcoming greenfield corridor that will link Ambala city in Haryana and Kotputli in Rajasthan. The six-lane, access-controlled Ambala Kotputli Highway, with a total length of 313 kilometres, is expected to give a major boost to the economic activities in the region. Union road transport and highways minister, Nitin Gadkari, has said that the highway is scheduled to be opened by March 2022 and that 80% of the corridor had been completed. He added that the corridor was being constructed at a record pace.

The union minister said that the government was focusing on a safety-first approach for the design and construction of roads, development of environment-friendly roads, industry-friendly approach, new technology for safer and economic roads and faster construction.
Ambala Kotputli Expressway route map
The six-lane greenfield corridor will start from Ambala in Haryana, via Narnaul and reach up to Kotputli neighbouring Jaipur in Rajasthan. It is an economic corridor comprising of four road projects:
- A 39-km section of NH 152 from Ambala to Ismailabad.
- The Trans Haryana Expressway or the Ambala-Narnaul Expressway spanning 227 kms.
- A 14-km stretch of Narnaul Bypass.
- A 30-km section of NH 148B from Narnaul to Paniyala Mod (NH-48) near Kotputli.

The upcoming Delhi Vadodara Mumbai expressway, which will be connected to National Highway 148B, will also be linked to the Ambala Kotputli corridor. Thus, it will offer the shortest route to the cities in western India like Mumbai from the northern areas, including Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.

On July 14, 2020, the union minister for road transport, highways and MSMEs, Nitin Gadkari, had laid the foundation stone for multiple highway projects worth Rs 20,000 crores, including the Trans Haryana Economic Corridor from Ismailpur to Narnaul on NH 152D.
Ambala to Kotputli Expressway: Details
The greenfield Kotputli Ambala Expressway project is one of the biggest road projects in the country, which is expected to transform the road infrastructure in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. It is being developed under the government’s Bharatmala project, at a cost of Rs 11,000 crores. The Ambala Kotputli Expressway project, along with the upcoming Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, together entail an investment to the tune of over Rs 1 lakh crore.
The project is being implemented by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). It is divided into 10 construction packages that have already been awarded. The expressway project is a part of the ambitious scheme of the Ministry of Highways, for developing 22 greenfield expressways at a cost of Rs 3.10 lakh crores.

The Ambala Kotputli economic corridor will provide direct connectivity to industry goods and passenger traffic in the three states. The greenfield expressway projects by the government have been planned with an aim to decongest major cities. The expressway will also reduce the distance and travel time between Ambala and Jaipur, as it will provide an alternative route, bypassing Delhi.
