“For many years, I wanted to buy a home in Goa. Whenever I went there with my family or friends, I enjoyed my stay. I love the place for its natural beauty, its beaches and the food. Goa makes me feel relaxed. It is an ideal place for a weekend home,” says actress Jennifer Winget, who bought a home in Goa last year.

Winget was hunting for a home for two years and finally zeroed in on her house in Reis Magos, north Goa. Her house is barely 15 minutes away from the beach.
“When my agent showed me this new property, I liked it instantly. There was something positive about this place. It is a contemporary and charming house, with a blend of traditional elements and a small garden too. I called my parents and in just one week, the deal was done. It was one of the best decisions of my life. It is a dream come true,” says the actress, who is currently seen in the television show Beyadh and has also acted in Saraswati Chandra, Karthika, Kumum, Kasuti Zindagi Ki, Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka and also in the movie Phir Se.

“When I was hunting for house, my two prerequisites were that it should be peaceful and in a quiet area. My two-bedroom hall house is part of a new housing project of independent villas. Each of the 10 houses are different and there is privacy,” Winget explains.
The ground-plus-one home has a lovely exterior, with a Moroccan and Greek feel and a small garden and porch. The exterior has an earthy look with a brick boundary wall. The white villa has wooden gates, colourful mosaic flooring and is surrounded by greenery.
Winget designed and got the furniture custom-made from Mumbai and then transported it to Goa. The basic colour scheme in the interiors is white, turquoise sofas and chairs adding a dash of colour. The open kitchen makes the space appear spacious.
The beds in each room are white and green in colour and have canopy in white sheer. The flooring is brownish-yellow. The walls are pristine white and so are the sheer curtains. Distressed wooden-green cupboards lend an earthy charm.

“White is a classic colour and is sophisticated. Adding a touch of turquoise makes the space look cheerful. I am still in the process of doing up my home and recently, from my trip to Mauritius, I bought some vases. I like to keep my home uncluttered, so that my dog can move around easily,” says Winget.
An ideal place to rejuvenate oneself
She adds that she loves Goa the most, in the monsoon season, when everything is lush green and the air is invigorating, with the smell of wet earth. I like driving in Goa amidst winding road and trees and playing with my pet dog Breezer on the beach, she says. “I don’t plan many activities on my holidays. I prefer to rest and rejuvenate myself. My trip to Goa is not complete, without enjoying food at Gunpowder which is Bohemian type of restaurant for coastal cuisine and Anand which has authentic Goan food.
“I try to visit my house in Goa at least once a month and have recently also started gardening. One of the windows in my house opens to the porch and one room opens to the garden. In the mornings, I simply sit and enjoy the sun. My home is serene and calm,” concludes Winget, with a smile.
