What is the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana?

The Madhubabu Pension Scheme was established in January 2008 by the Government of Odisha’s Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. This plan combines the Revised Old Age Pension Rules of 1989 and the Disability Pension Rules of 1985. This programme will benefit roughly 50 million applicants.

Madhu Babu Pension Yojana: Beneficiaries 

Nearly 1.5 million beneficiaries will get their pensions via e-payment. People who do not have a bank account will be given a pension at their residence. The SSEPD department has issued a directive to the concerned collector about the transfer of pension funds to the beneficiary’s bank account.

The government would also pay a pension to all children who have lost their parents as a result of COVID-19, through the Madhu Babu Covid Yojana.

Madhubabu Pension Yojana: Eligibility 

  • Applicants must be at least 60 years old.
  • Widows of any age.
  • Any elderly leprosy patient with visible signs of deformity.
  • People with disabilities.
  • AIDS patient.
  • The applicant’s family’s annual income shall not exceed Rs. 24000/-.
  • Only permanent residents of Odisha are eligible to apply.
  • The applicant may not receive benefits from any other pension programme administered by the Union Government, the State Government, or any institution funded by either government.

Madhu Babu Pension Yojana: Disbursement of pension

The beneficiary will get the pension amount in cash on the 15th of each month. Payments shall be made by the BDO or any officer subordinate to the BDO in the Gram Panchayat office (in a rural region) and by the DSSO or any officer subordinate to the DSSO in the municipal office (in an urban area).

  • Husband’s death certificate (in the case of a widow’s pension)
  • Certificate of disability (in the case of a PWD applicant)

Madhu Babu Pension Yojana: How to apply

To apply for the scheme offline, go to the Municipality/Office NAC of the Block Development Officer or Executive Officer.

To apply online, complete the following steps:

  • Visit the Department of Social Security and Persons with Disabilities’ official website.

  • Go to the “Apply for Scheme” option on the home page and click on it.
  • A new page will open on the screen, where you must select “Madhu Babu Pension Yojana” from the scheme drop-down menu.
  • Click the “Proceed” button to access the application form, or click here to open the form directly.
  • Enter a name, father/husband name, date of birth, gender, mobile number, Aadhar number, district, subdivision, address, and social category after selecting the scheme type.
  • Following that, you must provide a scan of your Aadhar card, a thumb impression or signature, and a recent passport-sized photograph.

  • Visit the Department of Social Security and Persons with Disabilities’ official website.
  • You must navigate to the “Apply for Scheme” option on the home page and click on it.
  • A new page will open on the screen, where you must pick “Madhu Babu Pension Yojana” from the Track application status drop-down menu.
  • To open the form directly, select “Track” or click here.
  • Enter the application number and select “Search.”

Madhu Babu Pension Yojana: Important considerations

  • Beneficiaries will be chosen in a balanced way.
  • Beneficiaries will be announced through extensive public awareness of the scheme.
  • Every collector is required to hold a selection camp at least once a month.
  • The Gram Panchayat extension officers and the concerned executive should be present on campus with enough quantities of forms.
  • All application-related information should be computerised.
  • The collectors should verify all pensioners on an annual basis.
  • Applicants will be given proof of submission.

Beneficiaries across the state who have lost family members owing to COVID-19 will receive financial help.

Madhu Babu Pension Yojana: Transgenders

Transgender community will be granted a pension through the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana. This community’s approximately 5000 members will get monthly payments ranging between Rs 500 and Rs 900. The amount of pension paid to them is determined by their age. Applicants must fill out an online application form from the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Department website to apply.

To continue receiving benefits from the scheme, all applicants have to link their Aadhaar numbers to a social welfare link account by March 15, 2020. To link Aadhaar card, produce a photocopy of the Aadhaar card when visiting the Gram Panchayat or municipal office to get a pension.
